Hello. In The Scrap Challenge

Hello Friday

The other day I received my first mood board challenge from 'In The Scrap', I opened the email & I was really excited to get started, you can see why below, look at that colour palette! I knew that this really would not be a challenge for me. I do get nervous when I'm set a challenge, like anyone, but I do seem to rise to them quite well, I love that energy you get from not quite knowing what you're going to create, but you know that your going to have fun anyway, so you just go with it.

Most of the time, half way through arranging the papers, photo & embellishments, I change my mind completely & start moving things around or adding other embellishments, sometimes taking away embellishments. This is half the fun for me, I feel in control of my own layout, not the other way round.

Here's the mood board that we were set below, lovely isn't it? Reminds me of Amsterdam (I can't wait to go back one day, my favourite city in the world).

My thought process went something like this..... oh heck there was no thought process, I just jumped straight in, I went into my studio & started sourcing papers & embellishments, this really is the fun part & another good reason to have your studio organised so you're not wasting time trying to find things. Who am I kidding, most of the time, this is when I get side tracked & start re-arranging my studio, swapping over storage containers or "cleaning up" what probably didn't really need cleaning up in the first place, but us scrapbookers & studio lovers love this bit the most. Am I right?

My scrapbook layouts are usually 9x12 majority of the time, I love 6x8 but felt that with this colour palette it need to be a little bigger. The 9x12 scrapbook paper is from Studio Calico & the smaller scrapbook papers, project life cards & embellisments are from Gossamer Blue. Those paperclips are really gorgeous & I think I need more. Scrap that, I do need more.

So below is what I came up with 'Our Home', scrapbook layout, I'm pretty pleased with it.

I also used the Studio Calico large letters from the Lisse Scrapbook kit. I subscribe to these kits & I'm so glad I do, they are what inspired me to start creating full layouts & not just do Project Life, see I really do love a challenge. I added gold thread to the chipboard buttons, sewing these on, my layouts always have sewing incorporated somehow, these buttons are cute.

I really enjoyed this challenge & you can see what the other Creative Design Team Members did too here. These girls rock & I'm blessed to be included in this circle of talent. Pinching myself this year. Big news coming later in the week too, so stay tuned.

Make your way over to the blog 'In The Scrap'.
