Aloha from Hawaii

Aloha. Hello.

If you follow me on Instagram you would know that I'm currently on summer vacation in Hawaii. Summer for us Australians of course, winter for my lovely friends in the Northern Hemisphere. Here in Hawaii, United States it's technically winter but at 27 degrees approximately each day it's more like a gorgeous summers day for us.

We are having the time of our lives. We have had our holiday planned for a year now, saving our dollars so we can treat ourselves to a relaxed holiday that we as a family unit so deserve. It was the first plane flight for our girls & a first trip out of Australia for my husband. I'm an overseas traveller from way back so I showed them the ropes, I think my husband is grateful for my experience with airports, baggage claim & customs alone.

A highlight of our week was a visit to Pearl Harbor. We actually arrived here in Honolulu on the 7th of December 2014 which turns out to be the 73rd anniversary of the attack on the harbor from the Japanese. Another special & amazing coincidence was that in our tour group we had an actual Pearl Harbor survivor, he is 93 years old now, he was in Hawaii for the anniversary & it was so emotional seeing him paying his respects to his fallen comrades. He received a standing ovation from our group as he exited the boat that took us to the USS Arizona memorial. I certainly will never forget this day & the emotions felt.

Other than shopping of course we have been doing what the Hawaiians do well, having fun, swimming, eating,  relaxing & chilling, it's truly been amazing. We still have a few days to go & then it's home to get ready for our Christmas. It's an exciting time of year. I'm beyond happy & blissfully aware of how lucky I am to have a hardworking husband & terrific girls.

I will blog my travel journal & December Daily when I return, I don't feel in a hurry to do this because I'm living in the moment but I'd just love to share it with you.
